Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS) is the closest international airport with direct flights between most major European cities. Domestic
carriers include discount carrier JetBlue.
T.F. Green Airport (PVD) in Warwick, RI is the closest airport and is served
by most major US carriers including discount carrier Southwest Airlines with regular direct flights from Philadelphia and BWI
as well as other airports. For you DC-ites who demand the convenience of DCA, US Airways offers direct flights between DCA and
PVD.
When making your travel plans, please keep in mind that traffic from Boston southbound can be very heavy on Fridays
in the summer as everyone heads to Cape Cod, Rhode Island, and the coast. Expect heavy traffic volumes through Providence as
well on Friday afternoon and evening.
For those arriving from out of the country, there are roadway tolls ($3.00) as you
leave Boston's Logan International Airport, so be certain to have US dollars on you.
See the links on the right for driving directions
between the airports and Raynham, MA (where the recommended hotels are located). A note on driving directions from Providence:
There are two Exit 5s off of I-195, the first is in Rhode Island and the second - the one for Route 79/Taunton that you will want
to take - is in Massachusetts, so be certain to pay attention to the signs and mileage.
The closest Amtrak rail station is Providence Station (PVD) with service from Washington, DC's Union Station, Philadelphia's
30th Street Station, and New York's Penn Station. Avis Car Rental appears to be the only option for renting a vehicle at the
train station.
The station is located at:
100 Gaspee Street
Providence, RI 02903
